Digital imaging guidelines

 
 
In order to print files on our Digital Printer, they need to be setup correctly, so please follow the steps below.
 

Image Size
Set your image to your actual final size, up to a maximum of 12 x 18in (30.4 x 45.7cms )

 

Print sizes:             3R     3.5 x 5 inches           ( 8.9 x 12.7cm )
                             4R        4 x 6 inches           ( 10.2 x 15.2cm )
                             5R        5 x 7 inches           ( 12.7 x 17.8cm )
                            5RW   5 x 7.5 inches           ( 12.7 x 19.1cm )
                            6R         6 x 8 inches           ( 15.3 x 20.3cm )
                            6RW    6 x 8.5 inches          ( 15.2 x 22.9cm )
                            8R        8 x 10 inches          ( 20.3 x 25.4cm )
                            8RW     8 x 12 inches          ( 20.3 x 30.5cm )
                            12R     12 x 18 inches          ( 30.4 x 45.7cm )

Please note that if you wish to have a border or retain critical edge detail, we suggest you have your file printed as sized but on the next size paper. This will give you a white border to manually trim off.

Resolution (this only applies to custom sizing)
Set the resolution to 300 pixels per inch (ppi/dpi). Ensure that you're not set at 300 pixels per cm. This setting is for your computer program i.e Photoshop. This is not a camera setting.

Colour Mode
Mode RGB. All images, including greyscale, must be RGB, 8 bit.  Not CMYK

Saving
Save a copy. By using the "save a copy" command you can ensure your image is flattened and no alpha cannels are saved. Be sure to check the box "don't include alpha channels"

File Format
Choose either tif or jpg.
Saving as tif. The next window will ask what byte order, choose IBM PC. Do not select LZW.
Saving as jpg. Set to the maximum setting for minimum compression.

Disk
We can print off (nearly) all types of media, simply bring it in or call us on 04-384 3713
Please ensure you do NOT use iPhoto to 'export' your images.

Ordering
Drop your disk into WPS and don't forget to give us a list of the file names and what paper size you want your image printed on.

Please note that if your files are not setup correctly there will be a setup charge of $5.00 per file. If you are unsure of any of the above details, please contact us.
