Fiona Pardington Exhibition


The exhibition works are silver gelatin prints of birds and heitiki. She found both types of taonga in museums, where their provenance has often been lost, or where they have gone to be stored as relics of the past.

 

The exhibition runs until Saturday 1 December. Suite gallery hours are 11am-5pm Thursday & Friday, and 11am-4pm Saturday.

About Fiona Pardington:

Born in Auckland in 1961, Fiona Pardington is of Scottish (Clan Cameron of Erracht) and Maori (Kai Tahu, Kati Mamoe) descent. She holds a Bachelors Degree (1984) specialising in Photography from the University of Auckland School of Fine Arts and a Master of Fine Arts (1st class honours) (2003) in Photography.

 

Pardington has received many fellowships, residences, awards and grants including the Ngai Tahu residency at Otago polytechnic 2006, Frances Hodgkins Fellow in both 1996 & 97, Visa Gold Art Award 1997 and The Moet & Chandon Fellow, France, 1991-92. She has exhibited extensively both locally and internationally. Selected public shows include Te Hei Tiki Auckland City Gallery 2005, Public/Private The 2nd Auckland Triennial 2004 and the Arts and Industry Urban Biennial, 2004.
